Why to tax the billionaires

Why tax the billionaires much more than the rest of us? Through the history of humankind, in all cultures those who have taken more than their share have been cut down or excommunicated. Then, permanent settlements and eventually individual land ownership came along. Since ownership has been a thing, we allow for inequalities, which is completely understandable and good. But when you think about it, land ownership - any ownership - is subject to the approval of society. It is permission for you to have exclusive use of a plot of land or a thing, and your right to its exclusive use is completely dependant on the state for its enforcement . Everything you own is exclusively yours, sure, but only at the pleasure of the state, who you rely upon completely to act if someone takes it away from you. If someone comes to take your land or thing, it is the police, and the justice system, paid for by all our taxes, that will come to your aid to stop them having it. Backed by their (the police's) education, roads for the police to get there, parliamentarians paid by tax dollars to keep the system robust and the hospital system that keeps all of them healthy so that they can keep the bad guys from taking your things. And the more things you have, the more fleets of people are needed to preserve your ownership. If the very wealthy demand more protection than others, then it it is them that need to pay more taxes to fund the services that permit their comfort and the protection of their wealth. It is for them to abide society's demand for a higher contribution, if they want to keep their comforts. Through this lens, no billionaire can complain about a supertax of their wealth where it is for the betterment of the people as a whole. More money is needed to develop projects that will benefit society, not just them by buying superyachts after superyachts. . The people of today need to speak up and demand more contribution from the super rich.
