Data centres, like people, have the ability to solve their own mess - the massive emissions that come from power to drive them. Can we please at least ask Data centre owners, who are consuming wild amounts of power, much of it fossil fuel generated, to direct a portion of their budgets to deep diving into their AI systems to come up with solutions on how to clean up their own mess? A by-product of this policy might just be that they find a solution to our impending climate chaos more generally.
