A new start up in the US is developing satellites with large and controllable mirrors that can be used to reflect sunlight onto solar farms during the night. Other uses could include assisting in disaster research efforts or extending industrial working hours. Many animals use the moon for navigation, migration, or determining when to moult or spawn. These animals and the risks such technologies pose to them should be seriously considered when deciding whether to allow such technologies and exactly how and where they will be used.
