Following on from ideas posted previously that users of fossil fuels pay for the privilege of sinking humanity further into a hole from which it will never be able to dig itself out, my suggestion for priorities for user pays would be 1. Air travel tax a flat rate of 10% of ticket; and 2. A surcharge on purchase of any items that are imported, with a higher tax for items purchased from further away (say, one tenth of a percent per kilogram for each 100 kilometres it needs to be transported - this can be done now with super computing)? 3. A profit tax on companies that are not certified sustainable under the new ISSB rules. 4, A fee is required to be paid for AI services that do not commit to relying on sustainable servers. With all proceeds from these temporary taxes going to a global climate change kitty to cover the cost of replacing fossil fuel grids with renewable grids - but only countries that ratify the ISSB guidelines and rules (for certifying companies sustainable to give certainty to equity markets thereby unlocking trillions in private equity to ethical investments, refer Glasgow COP 26) can be eligible for financial support from the fund. When the goal is achieved, the levies come off.
