What point is knowledge
What point is knowledge when it is not used?
Across the world, there are billions of people who have an excellent insight into the problems with their local economy and society. They use that knowledge to vote for their collective preferred decision makers.
Those same billions of people very often have good insight and ideas in relation to problems that can only be successfully dealt with by a global response.
But if there is no global decision maker that can respond to the greatest of collective insights of the people of the world, what good is this knowledge?
The present 'global decision maker' is the United Nations, that can take affirmative actions on anything - subject to agreement by the General Assembly and the Security Council.
But as the Charter of the United Nations does not permit action in practice due to the power of veto in the Security Council, it is a toothless tiger.
Which brings me back to the original question.
What good is knowledge? At least, on matters of global importance.
