Studies on the impact of Universal Basic Income government policies are generally supportive of the concept.
It supports the health, wealth and esteem of participants, and also local businesses who benefit from more money circulating in their community. But these experiments are not conclusive on the long term consequences of such government policy.
In the US, one study has suggested that participants will be less likely to turn up to work, for example.
What we do know for a fact, is that it is affordable. As our billionaires who pay less than 10% tax on their wealth, are talking of becoming trillionaires, there is clearly enough money in the world for UBI projects to be deployed.
We now know that it just takes governments that are are brave enough to pull those levers to deploy UBI, albeit that it might upset their biggest election donors.
