Reminder re the San Francisco Promise

The founders of the United Nations in 1945 acknowledged their work would not be fit for purpose for a changing world. They said: "The UN Charter will need to change with the times." So, they inserted a mandatory 10 year review process, sometimes referred to as the ' San Francisco Promise' . That promise is continually broken, as it never happened in 1955 and has not happened ever. Clearly, it would not be convenient for a small number of presidents who luxuriate in the bath of permanent membership of the Security Council. A review might soil their bathwater, as their individual power of veto over any 'action' by the UN may be 're-thought'. But it actually would be convenient for everyone in the world - including the constituents of the veto countries - for there to be a complete review. The current veto system is being clearly abused by self interested individuals who are leading veto powers to assist them to peruse personal agendas, and this is making the world an unsafer place for all people on the planet. It is therefore necessary for the people of the world, if not their governments, to speak up about this important topic. Vote here for a review of the UN charter.
