End tipping in the US
Ending tipping in the US by increasing minimum wage will result in a more transparent pay system and less instability for workers. Fundamentally, the system only serves to exacerbate inequalities: studies have shown that tipping practices are often influenced by gender, race, appearance, etc.
No tips, just percentage-based profit sharing. Owners don't want to do this because they think they would have to raise menu prices. This isn't true - they would just have to accurately reflect the current higher menu prices that we are already paying.
