If ever there was a time to revisit global political norms
Not since 1945 has there been a more apt time to review and reshape the processes for global governance.
Multilateral relationships that offered some protections in the context of politically hamstrung United Nations have been shattered, and the world is frankly standing here with its pants down. The only clothes on its back a UN Charter that is bound to bend to the whims of whoever happens to have the top seat in one of the Security Council veto powers, dictator or not.
Europe, India, Africa, South America South East Asia, Japan and all nations of good conscience now have an opportunity to step up.
The world needs to band together and demand:
1. the abolition of the UN Security Council veto system that allows certain countries to act in their own interest to the detriment of all with impunity; and
2. a UN governance program - such as the one advocated on this site under the idea heading of United Nations 2.0 - that will serve and protect in the interests of all, not just a few.
