Learn about life in school

Curriculum should focus more on basic skills and 'need to know' knowledge for the 'adult world'. Not every student is afforded this through family and existing connections, however those who are have a major leg-up on peers. I am referring to awareness of finances, budgeting, investing and tax; building interpersonal and communication skills; the ongoing learning of a secondary language; learning about human rights, kindness, justice, empathy and fairness; real-life global and society issues; politics; caring for and understanding each other; homemaking, building, cooking, and fixing a car. We should also be releasing pressure from high school students to 'decide' what they want to do with their lives before finishing school. We need to instead give them a much broader scope of practical life skills - and encourage enrolment in degrees or certificates that start broadly and end in more desirable positions (preventing anxiety along with the frequent changing of commitments... which ultimately leads to more anxiety).
