Various studies have found that using a pen and paper to record notes, rather than a keyboard, is more effective for learning. With a substantial amount of evidence indicating this, schools should return to pen and paper models and scrap the idea of issuing of laptops to all students. Being a significantly cheaper option, this would decrease discrepancies between poorly- and well-funded schools, while decreasing kids' access to unproductive and often harmful social media platforms during school hours. It's time for a coordinated and unified return to pen and paper.
