Crashing the International Space Station

In a few years, scientists intend to wind up the ISS mission of the last several decades, by crashing it into the Earth- the usual way of destroying outdated satellites that might otherwise contribute to dangerous space junk. This will not be risk free for people on earth, but also animals on this planet. Bear in mind the ISS is nearly the size of a football field. This idea is to instead send it to the moon, and crash it there. It could then become a valuable resource for future space adventurers who might be staying and working on the moon, as a source of spare parts or materials for their missions. Or Mars, maybe, but only if we have by then checked off that there is or isn't any microbial life on that planet.
