Earlier this year I posted an idea here about Earth Overshoot Day and the importance of changing its trajectory. Today I realised we have passed this year’s date, meaning that the rest of the year represents the overuse that depletes the biosphere. I am resharing as a reminder of this. Idea from 9 March 2024: “August 2nd is the day we are predicted to overshoot for 2024: the day when humanity's demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can generate in that given year. We must #MoveTheDate. And we are... in the wrong direction. Everyone should look up the graph trend of overshoot day, shifting towards the earlier months of the year as humanity progresses. We should plaster this everywhere, and campaign to Move The Date. The big corps have the most to do. But on a micro level, we can all contribute too: small behaviour changes can have big impact. Let's promote the Move The Date campaign and all keep this front of mind!” Please consume mindfully.
