Nobel Laureate on public policy, Kenneth Arrow, once explained the tension in public policy perfectly by quoting the words of first century sage, Rabbi Hillel: "If I am not for myself, then who is for me? And if I am not for others, then who am I? And if not now, when?" Arrow analyzesd this question to death. In the end, he distilled that we are better off at managing this tension in a democracy, than in an an autoctacy. So...git voting.
