Is the Squeaking Wheel going to get the oil?
Last week's Republican convention in the US galvanized the GOP (Grand Old Party - another name for the Republican Party) like no other.
It is a testament to the determination of Donald J Trump that he got the penultimate approbation - his party's unanimous nomination.
Meanwhile, I am pretty sure the majority of the people of the United States want action on climate change. Recent surveys also say this: 1. the vast majority do want that; and 2. those people on an individual level, by and large, feel they are more concerned than other people about it.
The 'squeaky wheel people' that repeat over and over again that the climate is not an issue create a distorted picture in people's minds that the majority don't care about it (this is proven in sociology - repeating something over and over causes people to be more likely to think it is the majority view) - and people like to be in a majority - it is safe.
This idea is that US people might reflect for a moment on whether they really want to spend all their attention on oiling that squeaky wheel, when it is the other wheel that is flat and, if they want to ride their bike, needs pumping up.
