Two party states and one party states are the same, it is just people in power that need checking
This idea is that whether you are in a democracy or communist country, your governments are pretty much the same. Hear me out.
Under both systems, you run for an election. If you get in, you tow a party line that has fairly common objectives to your opposing candidate (whether from another party or faction of your own party, or just running against a colleague) being that you will make decisions that are good for the health, wealth and welfare of your community; but ultimately your rise through the ranks is a meritocratic one.
You will not get your way on everything you think should be. The best you can do is to lean government decision making a fraction in the direction that you think best.
You see, both communist and democratic governments strive to do what is best for their constituents, and, believe it or not, most people who run for public office anywhere are trying to do the right thing by their communities.
Do not listen to those who demonise other governments. The only opposition I have to any government, or person in any government of any persuasion, is if they try to curb free thinking by providing or orchestrating selected information or disinformation going to the people. Or rig elections. These things happen in all government systems.
If as an individual you do not do those things - and the vast majority in all political systems do not - then I don't care what system you are from: Good on you for putting your hand up to help your community!
No matter what political system, government or country you are from, if you are a politician who implements a policy designed to restrict the free exchange of information between people, it is you who are wrong, and you need to be held to account.
