Sometimes we the people of the free world allow the USA or even Silicon valley to make decisions for us. It is the people of the world that should lead the free world, via the internet. We just need to put some governance procedures in place. People are fundamentally good, and good processes for global governance by the people will beat bad actors, every time. Sure, there needs to be countries and leaders of countries, and all that. But on world decision making, the people need to lead the way. It is for the UN to follow. To implement. As Mahatma Ghandi reportedly once said " There go the people, I must follow them, I am their leader".
