Governments around the world could allocate an hour per week, perhaps on a Sunday night, to update people on the latest global climate news and global efforts to deal with it. The reason I say this should be a government initiative (all governments) is to make it 'mainstream' newsworthy, and thus keep it ever present and up to date on everyone's minds. Weekly update is suggested as it is otherwise hard to find something newsworthy in something that is unfolding so slowly, such that it will otherwise make the news. But it is very worthy of our regular attention - just while we have to deal with it for the future generations.
