Penalties for unoccupied properties
In the mist of the housing crisis, those who own properties which are not occupied for extended periods of time should face increased taxes on those properties.
On the night of the 2021 Census in Australia, 10.1% of properties in the country were unoccupied.
Meanwhile, there are thousands of Australians with nowhere to leave.
To help the situation, leaving properties unoccupied should be disincentivised by the government.
