Incentives to share sustainable innovations

In a society of increasing awareness about sustainable business practices, the development of sustainable innovations is crucial to the legitimacy and performance of many organisations. The competitive advantage of such innovations can lead to organisations gate-keeping, which ultimately stifles the adoption and further development of sustainable practices. A shorter path to a more sustainable world is incentivising collaborative research, which will benefit ourselves and future generations. Collaborative efforts can further be improved by the development of open access platforms where innovators can share their ideas without barriers. Regulatory support could also see policies implemented that support the development and sharing of sustainable innovations. This could include financial support such as tax incentives or grants for sustainable projects. Patent reform could also make it easier for sustainable innovations to be shared and adopted.
