I believe that part of the reason we are in the current economic crisis we are in is because very few people study economics. Pair this with the fact very few have studied government and politics or Law to any extent, you see a clear problem. Currently, in the UK, only Citizenship and Religious Studies are mandatory subjects. There is no requirement to teach social sciences or even History (which would encompass several social sciences to a degree).
