All in on E-waste
Everyone needs to be in the problem of e-waste: governments, businesses and individuals. A key aspect is clearly the implementation of effective e-waste management policies and regulations at both national and international levels, that focus on reducing the generation of e-waste through measures such as product design for longevity, repairability, and recyclability. Additionally, these policies and associated campaigns should promote the reuse and recycling of electronic products to extract valuable materials and reduce the environmental impact of e-waste disposal.
Campaigns should also educate consumers about the importance of responsible e-waste management. Education campaigns that highlight the environmental and health hazards associated with improper e-waste disposal, and encourage consumers to recycle their old electronics, are crucial.
Incentivizing the recycling of e-waste through buy-back programs or tax incentives can also help increase recycling rates, and by doing so reduce the amount of e-waste ending up in landfills or being illegally exported to developing countries.
This is a big problem needing more attention from governments.
