Teach Indigenous languages, too
In addition to the classic second languages taught at schools - eg, English, French, Spanish, Mandarin - why not also offer courses in the indigenous languages of your country, or, at least, one language that is indigenous.
There are several reasons for this:
1. If you are not of indigenous heritage, it would help to engender respect for the culture of original inhabitants of your land;
2. It is good for the brain to learn new languages; and
3. It matters not that it may be rarely used - translation services in the more popular foreign languages are now so ubiquitous, that there is not as much practical use in learning them anymore.
It is not suggested this should be compulsory. Just that it be offered sometimes, where possible, maybe?
