Annual used furniture footpath weeks
In the city where I live, we are prone to cyclones.
At the start of each cyclone season, the council promotes a 'clean up' where everyone can put out their old stuff, on the pavement where they live.
They will come around and pick it all up and take it away to the dump, so there is less debris flying around should there be a cyclone.
What happens , though, is that half the things put out are picked up by other people who could use the discarded items - before they are ever picked up by the council.
This got me to thinking. In this world of overconsumption and scarcer resources, not to mention economic hard times in many places, why don't all communities do this once a year, so that unwanted furniture and items can find a second life?
