Why global democracy?

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum — even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.” - Noam Chomsky But prominent US academic and consultant to governments, Cass Sunstein, has also postulated that social cascading (group think) can be overcome by diversity. In a thought experiment, he once asked us to imagine a deliberating body consisting of all citizens in the world. In such a circumstance, he figured, predeliberation prejudices would be so diverse that any effect of groupthink would be nullified. Tying these notions in, perhaps we are all better placing our best ideas on a global platform for consideration by the world, rather than on our person social media in our filter bubbles?
