Citizen Science - Time for a Global Headquarters

These days, there are thousands of citizen science projects going on around the world at any one time- where people can download an app or visit a website to record data for someone's project. It might be, for example, a project to note the kind of, or numbers of, bees in your garden at a certain time of year, or to record certain plants in your area, or maybe the kind of rubbish at a local beach, or to record the croaks of frogs in your suburb. Wouldn't it be good if there was a citizen's science 'headquarters' where people could register their citizen science projects. That way, all people interested in a topic will know where to go if they want to engage with other people with the same interest. And, importantly, the researchers would know about other projects that might overlap, and be able to share information. Most importantly, people could promote their project by registering it with that organization, knowing everyone will go to that place to look for citizen science projects that are relevant to them. . Each country could have its won citizen science headquarters, and they would feed information regarding their projects to the global headquarters. People who want to engage in citizen science could then also go to the global headquarters to find projects that interest them, from the global all the way down to the local. It would also represent a trove of information for researchers, and accelerate scientific breakthroughs.
