The future of democracy

History shows that when it comes to opinion websites, people interested in a particular issue self-select those places that are relevant to them, and go there to read and to offer their advice. This is because they find those places interesting. Similarly, history shows that persons who are interested in an issue tend to understand it better than others, as they are drawn to information concerning it. Further, there is no question, that with time, governance everywhere will become more democratic, and further, democracies will become more ‘deliberative’ with new technologies allowing people to vote more directly for issues over people. The great stride forward for humanity will come when the general population joins the dots on these broad concepts, such that instead of just using their phones to play games, people will start to engage in governance in this more direct way, thereby harnessing the power of people who care about issues to the resolution of how these issues should be managed. This could include the resolution of otherwise intractable global problems. You can indicate your agreement – if you do agree this is the way forward for humanity - on this platform, right here. By doing this, you will be effectively pioneering the way for those platforms that seek to learn more about deliberative governance everywhere.
