The interplay of our global problems

New research suggests that ingesting microplastics (which, sorry, we all do) may increase fat absorption by 145%, increasing the risk of heart disease, obsesity and other conditions associated with high-fat diets. So while we know they negatively affect the environment, it turns out they also affect us, more than we knew. It's a classic example of how the major global challenges we face today are intertwined - like how GHG emissions warm the climate, whilst also polluting the air, and causing health problems. These are just some examples of the relationships that we know so far - no doubt, there are many yet to be realised. What this means, however, is that the actions we take to combat many of our global challenges, also have benefits that we might not even know about yet. So the rewards for our actions may be even bigger than we think! Does that motivate us to act? It should. Push for action, people. The problems you care about are possibility even more important than you already think they are. I hope this might inspire you to push a little harder for change.
