Pain relief - lets use the power of distraction more
I read somewhere that children in a burns unit at a hospital who suffered excruciating pain at the time of bandage change, each day, were becoming unwell due to the large amounts of pain killers they had to take.
In an experiment, they were instead given a headset with a video game that had them skiing down a hill collecting objects and dodging obstacles. They reported feeling almost no pain while their bandages were being changed.
I am wondering whether some start up could develop videos to fit the interests of different people who experience intense pain in the community for use in all sorts of environments, including the dentist chair, or even at home. It might be temporary but hopefully so is the pain.
