Girls in stem
Many young girls feel a natural aversion to maths and physics due to feeling they aren't "naturally" smart enough. Which is silly, because young girls often outperform their male peers in maths and science in the earlier years in school. This disengagement in later years is a result of harmful stereotypes (e.g. physics is masculine - an utterly ridiculous notion) and a lack of female role models to look up to in prospective STEM studies/careers.
A step towards breaking this wall down for girls is for school curricula to include a "history lesson" on each subject at the start of each term which highlights the contribution both genders have had to the field. Adequate representation of female contributions to the sciences - rather the historical undervaluing - is crucial to ensure girls know that they do have a place in STEM.
