The assetisation of our attention

The marketing execs of the tech propaganda gurus are just getting better and better at feeding our phones with things that they know from their experience and their surveillance of us will grab our attention. As they continue to get better at it, so we are drawn in. That is how they make their money. But life is not entertainment. When we are fed only entertainment, we become emotionally poor, not rich. If the assetization of our attention continues at the current rate, we will are all at risk of forgetting how to broaden our thinking. I vote we should have to 'opt in' to social media companies' conducting surveillance on our lives to help them find out what entertains us. It should not just happen automatically, without our consent. We should have to agree to them doing that by ticking a box. And we should be able to untick it any time we choose.
