Last week, an idea was posted calling for a global truce, where all countries halt spending on military and apply it towards addressing global pollution. It might seem unrealistic, but it is realistic, as long as countries can fund existing armies to keep their jobs. They should also be able to continue to honor third party contracts and make new ones for the future. The agreement would just be that, aside from maintaining existing plant and equipment, all countries in the world use their armies to help solve global pollution for the next 10 years. eg, planting trees in deserts.
