Real-time, regional CO2 pictures.

At current, countries emissions stats are estimates based on data such as how much oil and gas has been sold that year. My idea is to have technologies around the globe that directly measure CO2 emissions, in major cities etc. Not only would this help improve the accuracy of emissions estimates, this could provide a fast feedback loop to indicate which emissions reductions targets are the most effective. Researchers have devised technologies that are capable of achieving this, though there would be an associated capital cost. I think it is. Short-term, regional pictures of emissions could help inspire regions to partake in less emission-heavy activities. It's certainly a way of getting emissions where they need to be - on everyone's mind. Plus, we know that not spending money on climate change now will cost us much more in the long run.
