Fairtrade labels on new clothes?

Fairtrade International is a growing protocol for labelling products by reference to their sustainability standards This idea is that more governments and businesses should engage with this labelling protocol, especially retailers of new clothes. We know the fashion industry is rife with unfair working conditions - this equals mass production of poor quality products that are cheap. This "fast fashion" industry is also responsible for 8% of carbon emissions - more than all international flights and maritime combined. The Fairtrade standards help support sustainable working conditions in developing countries and also support the farmers that work on improving their climate credentials. Fairtrade labels give consumers the agency to be ethical consumers.
