This idea is that to every neighborhood in the world, there should be appointed a Neighborhood Knight. This is a person appointed and paid by a combination of national, provincial and local governments, whose job it is to: Doorknock* and help people find ways of saving water and energy in their households Doorknock and let people know what plants grow well in their area and where they can buy seedlings. Doorknock and remind people of tricks to save on power, including switching things off (including government buildings and councils and businesses) If that works well, they can move onto encouraging communal gardens and the like. *In this modern day and age, most doorknocks can be prearranged by text, and, of course, you can always decline a visit from a neighborhood knight, if you choose.
