Funding for migraines research has historically been abysmal, despite being the third most prevalent health disorder in the world. As well as being an isolating condition, the indirect costs are massive, with missed work and reduced productivity costing around $ 19 billion annually in the US alone. We know we can achieve almost anything when funding is sufficient to get the brightest minds solving the worlds problems - more resources should be directed at understanding the origins of migraines to allow effective treatment for sufferers.
