Minimum building standards- insulation requirements
The current heatwave in Europe has reinforced our need for minimum building standards. All new dwellings should be built to maintain safe and comfortable indoor temperatures with minimum energy requirements. The key here in minimum. This should be defined.
Additionally, there should be state programs to retrofit existing dwellings to improve their thermal regulation.
Doing so increases our standard of living whilst reducing our reliance on the very factors contributing to these extreme temperatures (be it high or low).
