Private equity to solve climate change
We have learned from COP 26 that the key to unlocking $130 trillion in private funding to support a transition to renewables is the effective deployment of a scheme for universally accepted standards for determining the ecofriendliness of a company, via the newly established International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
The sooner the ISSB does its work, the sooner the funds will start to flow.
At this stage, a best case scenairo is thought to be last half of 2022, which would be great. But, that is also said to be optimistic.
The world has to pull out all stops now, not tomorrow, to get the new standards up and running. That is when the investment will start to flow.
