Time's up balloons. Several billion party balloons are sold and thrown away every year. The world cannot afford to keep doing this. In western society, the single use plastic cull is up and running, with plastic bags and plastic straws rightly smashed by new regulation. Next there should be regulation limiting the use of plastic balloons. There are no downsides. People will always find new ways to add colour. Upsides are: massive reduction in another unnecessary single use plastic; save unwitnessed suffering of countless marine animals as millions of these balloons find their way into water ways; ease pressure on the helium market which is super tight even without balloons.
