Retired quantum physicist Dr Peter Hill is this week walking 500km across outback Australia to raise awareness of his personal passion, which is that quantum physics should be taught in schools. He points out that quantum physics is now being widely applied in real world jobs. Yet the subject barely gets a mention in the curriculum of most schools. "The stuff that's being taught at school is the stuff that was being taught in 1917", he says. He points out it is relevant for later study and careers in fields like solar technology and computing.
