Here is a quote from Walter Lippmann, a prolific US journalist, writer and and political commentator who lived from 1889 to 1974: “Ours is a problem in which deception has become organized and strong; where truth is poisoned at its source; one in which the skill of the shrewdest brains is devoted to misleading a bewildered people.” Now, obviously this quote is from way before the internet. So, you see, it is not just social media that turns people into sheep, it is people that exert power. It is not right to concede defeat to the echo chambers and filter bubbles of Meta and other influential media controllers. It turns out we just need to keep reading diverse views and to keep working hard to think for ourselves. Period.
