Omicron a reminder we are one
Old habits die hard, but the Pangolin's cough is just not going away. One reason it is not going away is that we keep falling into our old habit of looking only inwardly to care for only ourselves, not outwardly to look after each other. Some developed countries made big promises to support urgent vaccination programs in less wealthy parts of the world. Many didn't, making token gestures to neighbouring populations. The net effect is that the global vaccination rollout was and is slower than it should be. As predicted by the scientists, this has led to more opportunities for variant that will bite us all on the bum. The moral of the story is we need to think outward not inward, bigger not smaller. Our tribe is a global tribe now. Pretending otherwise will not work for us.
