Our fashion choices have lasting consequences
The fast fashion industry is responsible for 8% of carbon emissions - more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined (https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/press-release/un-alliance-sustainable-fashion-addresses-damage-fast-fashion). The industry also contributes massively to landfill and water pollution.
We need to push for a society that doesn’t encourage overconsumption. Promote no-new-November, Second-hand-September. Institute a federal standards body to investigate and regulate the impacts of production. Fair trade labels on new clothes?
