Hold social media companies accountable for hate speech on their platforms

Social media sites (e.g. Twitter, Instagram etc.) should be held legally responsible for curbing racist, sexist etc. content on their platforms. Posts containing blatant hate speech should not have a place. Some may then wonder what this means for free speech. But we have seen recently (through efforts to curb the spread of misinformation about COVID vaccines etc.) that these platforms are capable of providing disclaimers and/or links to credible sources below posts that may spread misinformation. At the very least, why not have these same disclaimers below posts that contain vicious hate content? The internet moves fast and protection measures and legislation needs to keep up. These companies should bear a duty of care to their users.
