Biodegradable plastic

Making biodegradeble plastic is possible ! Why is it not law when governments are well aware of the harm plastic is doing to the ocean!

  • This plays into a wider green policy. Forcing oil companies to invest in renewable and environmentally sustainable sources and products. You can make almost any 'oil product' (gas, plastic, rubber etc) from vegetable oil, thus making it biodegradable. Problem is that it too expensive to do right now...not enough has been spend developing the industry. Compelling oil companies to invest in such ventures...with steep penalties for those who do not comply and equally lucrative incentives for those who meet and exceed expectations would bring about the change that you are looking for. Getting a Pepsi in a biodegradable bottle is just a small example of the kinds of things we could do. BTW as far as I know a biodegradable plastic bottle still takes 100's of years to completely break down...otherwise your drink would rot its container before you got to drink it....Dropping garbage in the ocean is the problem

  • Biodegradable plastic is not going to save us from any garbage or energy problem.

  • This "free sharing" of infmoration seems too good to be true. Like communism.

  • The ability to recycle materials is more important than the ability for materials to harmlessly degrade.

  • Well done article that. I'll make sure to use it wielsy.
