America

Not so much an idea, but more a question. Why is it that so many of the topics on this site revolve around the USA? A global democracy can not work when we still focus so much on this single country that has given us so many great things, but may now be out of its depths.

  • I don't like it either, but they are slowly becoming less important as a country.

  • Because the Americans have not read or understand what this site is all about. I am from Britain living in south east Asia and certainly do not think USA is the model to set global democracy on, nor any nation. Democracy has been used as a smoke cloud by governments that declare they are a democracy.

  • Because a large percentage English-speaking of social media users are from the US, and the US has a more parochial worldview than other English-speaking countries. Any kind of Internet democracy is going to be highly biased toward first world concerns. This site is, after all, an elaborate joke.

  • I object because this is not an idea.

  • Foltor your judging something prior to the quarterly speeches, of which i find is someone that belongs to a culture that love to see proof before judging. I promise as someone that lives in a third world country and have visited many others that I will be supporting with a third world view. I have seen poverty its actually on my door step, but I have much worst than here, I have seen for myself the growth of China. I think your fears are very un-warrented.

  • I see what you are saying, but I think that people are discussing issues that are most prevalent to themselves because they hear them, see them and feel them . It would be great to get more of the world involved than just the US, Canada, and UK. Keep in mind I do not know the exact demographic for this website.

  • I object because it's not entirely true and it's early days - go and have a look at my posts in Global Concerns and you will find quite unieversal problems across many nations.

  • It had to start somewhere. It needs input from everyone. Enlightened US citizens are much more global thinking than the mindless media driven consumerists, and I hope that this site will attract more soon.

  • I object because this offers no solutions. As foltor said, it's not an idea...

  • I object because its our task to change the relations, if we want. And a good idea is a good idea, it is less important from which continent it comes. But yeah, I would like to see more people from India, Mikronesia, Zimbabwe and Bhutan. Until people from all over the world join this group, we should keep in mind to not overrate the weighting of the opinions.

  • A large amount of the louder users of the internet are from America but I have noticed a large amount of users from many other countries here so I'm happy to find that this site is having such a wide influence.

  • So true. Honesty and everything regconized.

  • Your thikning matches mine - great minds think alike!

  • The key is in the title isn't it - Global.
Not USA. Yes they are a large English speaking speaking demographic (nearly as big as India and China) but it would be nice for USA contributors to pose more global ideas rather than insular ones.
Many do and good luck to them because they are more likely to get votes than others.
I voted for this mainly to remind all readers that the aim of this site is to affect minds globally and not just in your own backyard. Good luck to you all.
