Pricing fossil fuels to fund research into alternate energies

by  Benmartens , in Energy,  for Global  on December 22, 2011, 4:49 pm  · 29 | 6 · 2187 Views

There is a lot of talk about fossils fuels having limited lifespans yet at present they are still so cheap to buy that not enough investment is being channelled into research into alternate new energy sources.

I propose that a global research and investment body is established to propogate new energy initiatives funded by taxes imposed on the large fossil fuel miners which will need to be approved by participating nations. The energy crisis of the 70's will happen again and current alternative energies such as biofuels, solar, wind, hydrogen, nuclear, thermal energies/technologies cannot provide what we need in the next 30 years.

  • Anonymous 5 years ago Oil & Coal are primary sources of Energy. No other source exists. Get over it !!!

  • Anonymous 5 years ago Oil & Coal are not the only primary sources. They are just the most developed. http://www.lawrencevilleplasmaphysics.com/

  • couzinit (Canada) 5 years ago I object because the information about energy is concealed from the general public and ideas like fusion are even scoffed openly.

  • penam (Canada) 5 years ago nuclear ! go green!

  • 000001163 (United States) 5 years ago I object because you can not set artifishial prices in the market it is what lead to the crashes let the free market work the price down by compatition. i might sell oil at 100$ a barrel but im sure to find some one who will sell it at 99$ a barrel because it is what the free market pushes. to have the lowiest prices

  • Anonymous 5 years ago PEOPLE WATER ENGINE TECHNOLOGY HAVE TO BE RELEASED THEN EVERYBODY WILL BE FREE ---------- THAT'S THE WAY TO GO

  • babelfish (Philippines) 5 years ago I object because any tax on fossil fuel will be channeled on to the users of energy. Please note that the major energy suppliers are all ready investing in renewable and clean energy technologies. My objection is related to the prices of energy of those whom are in poverty or on the bread line. The price of all products would increase due to the cost of production or and transportation. Effort should be made to give incentives to those researching in the area of green energy and of course investment in new inventions and innovations to seek the goal of cheap non polluting sources of energy.

  • akashic68 (United States) 5 years ago I object because the fossil fuels industry already controls the green market with their money and political influence. They buy it from the inventor, or outright steal it, and then they shelve it. Sometimes the inventors pay with their lives.

  • Anonymous 5 years ago 说:Thanks for some quality potins there. I am kind of new to online , so I printed this off to put in my file, any better way to go about keeping track of it then printing?

  • Anonymous 5 years ago We live in a world that needs to change our thinking of what it takes to live our life with the number one Law....The Law of L O V E! It;s the most needed emotions to be Human in universe without we don"t get IT !!!! We come into the idea of the world needs love! More now then ever...just remember that YOU LOVE WHAT YOU DO AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!!!! This applies to everything that we make in invention and innovations of energy...we are all connected by our energy! We created an environment of Love! First!

  • MatthewDBecker (Canada) 5 years ago I agree, but barely. I don't think prices should be increased to fund the research, but I do think money from the taxation and profit (Some, not all) from fossil fuel sales should be put towards the development of more renewable technologies. And to those who think oil and coal are the only sources of energy; it may be time to learn about nuclear, solar, hydroelectric, and wind power energy sources.

  • 000002039 (United States) 5 years ago take energy into your own hands. have a personal solar panel for your home. do all things living off the grid as much as possible.

  • 000002291 (United States) 5 years ago shell oil and many others are already doing this
